There are several ways to enjoy Oakmoss Essential Oil as part of aromatic and fragrance routines.
DiffusionUse sparingly in a diffuser to add depth and grounding character to blends rather than as a dominant note.
Topical UseAlways dilute Oakmoss Essential Oil with a suitable carrier oil before applying to the skin. A typical dilution rate is 0.5 to 1%, which is around 1 drop per 10 ml of carrier oil. Carry out a patch test before use.
Steam UseA very small amount can be added to warm water to introduce a deep, earthy aroma during steam use.
Fragrance BlendingOakmoss is commonly used as a base note and fixative in natural perfumery to anchor lighter notes and extend aroma longevity.
General use usually requires a low dilution due to the oil’s strength. For every 30 ml of carrier oil, add approximately 3 to 6 drops of Oakmoss Essential Oil and mix thoroughly in a dark glass container.Always carry out a patch test before broader application.
Oakmoss oil is a natural aromatic extract obtained from lichen that grows on oak and pine trees and is widely used in perfumery.
It acts as a fixative, helping slow evaporation and extend the life of top and middle notes in a blend.
It smells earthy, green and woody, with a damp forest-floor character and subtle sweetness.
Oakmoss blends well with florals, citruses, woods and resins such as bergamot, lavender, rose, sandalwood and frankincense.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the bottle tightly closed.
Extra caution is advised. Use only in very low dilutions and avoid use around pets unless guidance is provided by a qualified professional.
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.Do not apply undiluted to the skin. Always dilute with a suitable carrier oil before topical use.Avoid use during pregnancy.Keep away from children.Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.Carry out a patch test before use.Keep away from eyes.
Important Handling Information
Oakmoss (Evernia sp.) is a highly viscous aromatic extract. It may appear thick, resinous, or semi-solid at room temperature.
This is normal and expected. The high viscosity is a natural characteristic of unmodified oakmoss and indicates that the material has not been chemically altered or diluted.
Warm gently to liquefy if required. Do not overheat.
For accurate use in formulations, dilution is recommended prior to weighing or blending.
Natural Variation Notice: This aromatic extract is derived from natural materials. Variations in colour, viscosity or aroma may occur between batches and do not affect quality.Disclaimer: Individual experiences may vary. Seek professional advice if unsure before use.
